hey try to offer formula between feeds.
so morning feed might be breast, then next one you might try formula, then next feed breast again. it seems your baby is just used to one method (which is better then formula) - but there must be a reason you want to stop breastfeeding.
work, or age of the baby.
it was very difficult for me to stop breastfeeding, i put perfume on my breasts and nipples, to give it that bittery taste and very strong smell, that was he didnt want to put it in his mouth any more.
he was 2yrs 1 month when he stopped breastfeeding, so i didnt have to give him formula, i tried even earlier, but he didnt like it at all.
good luck
try the perfume thing, it worked for me..
and as far as formula goes, once she is hungry, she WILL take formula...How can i stop breastfeeding i need an alturnitive my wee girl wont drink formula does any1 have any advise?
I had similar problems with my baby boy, only I had so little milk, I HAD to go through hell to shift to formula. Pediatricians advise breastfeeding as the only way of feeding until the baby's 6 months old, when you should start additional food sources, combined with your milk. But, if you absolutely need to stop breastfeeding, start feeding your baby night meals of formula, when she is hungry, but has no strength to ';fight you';. I know she doesn't like it, (babies are very picky when it comes to taste and smell, they're the strongest senses in the beginning, and no one likes to trade mom's hug for a bottle), but you will need to try every single formula in the market, until you find the ONE she likes. Then, after you've made certain you have found ';her'; formula, you can start taking ablactation medicine (one that stops milk production in the breasts), only after you've consulted your gynecologist about pros and cons (in your case). Most important: try to keep CALM through rough times and night meals, only a calm mother can be persistent enough. Good luck!
My daughter weened right away, but before she did my mom gave me advice about it. Start bottle feeding if she's not already and slowly add in formula to the breast milk. over time, slowly add more formula than breast milk until eventually its just all formula.
try using a breast pump and taking off some milk daily and get her to drink that from the bottle and slowly add the formula into the breast milk until she gets used to the taste and goes solely formula that's what i did, it took about 2 weeks?!
