What activities should I do that will count? I mean activities that will increase my chances of getting into a graduate school...I'm a high school senior and about to start college. I need advise?
While focusing on your course work, you can also explore every student club or activity that interests you. Both graduate schools and employers would like to see someone that has personal interests and isn't just doing things to impress people.
The big ';don't'; is: Don't get drunk or binge drink or do drugs every weekend. Yeah, that's a college stereotype, but it distracts you from what really matters in your life.I'm a high school senior and about to start college. I need advise?
the best advice i can give you is that if you drink, ALWAYS get it yourself, or go to the bar with the guy when he goes to get you a drink, but make sure you NEVER leave you galss alone or site unseen. that's when people put stuff in drinks, and where there is an atmosphere of ';freedom';, like at college, the rules become hazy, and the line between fun and crime also gets hazy. be safe and have fun.
go to class and be responsible. have fun but remember your going for a reason. If they have a freshmen orientation this summer go to it as it will take you on a tour of campus and you can kinda get a feel for it. Try and get your classes as early as possible and then when you do go and figure out where they are and how your gonna get from one to the other if they are back to back. Get a roommate and live in the dorms if they have them, as it is a great place to meet people. My old college roommate is one of my best friends to this day and I went to college 15 years ago. It will also be a good place for you to pick up guys. But really just have fun and enjoy yourself!

Advise me on collecting stream gravel samples for testing for aggregate?
I expect to have a backhoe and small dump or flatbed truck available. I want to collect 1/2 to 1 yard samples, run them thru a crusher, and send them to a testing lab to determine suitability for concrete and HMAC.

well, he already knows it has to be hypo-allergenic and it has to be a shelter dog. I would suggest having the kids go to local shelters and see which dogs have a good personality. They shouldn't get a dog that takes as much work as first dog barney, and they should get one that likes people.

Apart from Venice which was much smaller than I thought I did not have enough time to see any place properly, but enough to get an idea and feel. In one day (venice to montepulciano via Florence ( in train station waiting for train) and Siena ( then missed a bus!)...but I literally spent the ENTIRE day travelling. I was stressed and frustrated by how long it took, so don't do too much. I would do Italy and Chech Republic as they are close together and decent size to explore in that time...OR do only Spain as its a much larger country. I only went to one area, south of Barcelona so have not seen much of it.
I can recommend all the places I saw in Italy. Verona was lovely, Venice was unique ( but as I said it was a lot smaller than I thought and you can do it in a day). Verona and Venice are about an hour-hour 1/2 from each other by train ( see trenitalia website for costs and times of trains which you pay for distance...)
Bologna has a real medieval feel. I only had an afternoon there before flying out the next morning so I did not do it justice.

RUN ! ! ! ! Running burns ALOT of calories. If you can, SWIM. It burns even more calories. And I know it sounds weird. But skip rope. Jump rope every night for at least 20 minutes. You will see the pounds SHED.

GSD showing first signs of hip problems, any advise?
I am looking after a GSD and he very occasionally has painful hips. He is a very active dog and loves to explore and run a little when on walks. He is just about to turn 5 I believe. Can anyone recommend any suppliments, or exercise programs to minimise his pain.GSD showing first signs of hip problems, any advise?
Glucosamine/chondroitin tablet supplements, as several people have suggested, are a good idea, particularly since he's just starting to have problems. They help more in the long-term though. There are dog supplements you can buy from your vet, or you could ring your vet and ask for a suitable dose and see if it's cheaper at a human health store.
You're doing the right thing by keeping him active. If he's at all overweight then losing the weight is one of the things that makes the most difference. Hydrotherapy is also really good for dogs with joint problems, I've seen fantastic results with long-term programs. If you're in the UK then http://www.k9hydrotherapy.co.uk/ has a list of centres, but it is perhaps something his owners should be doing as it can be expensive.
Although he's not your dog you could maybe advise the owners to have him assessed by a vet. This would mean he can be prescribed some painkillers to take on his bad days (which is probably the best thing to do).
X-rays are a good idea to determine how bad his hip dysplasia is, but the painkillers will be decided by how painful he seems rather than an x-ray picture. X-rays would be helpful if the owners are willing to think about surgical options like hip replacements (he is a young dog after all).
There's also a new treatment that sometimes works, it's a course of injections called Cartrophen and is good for arthritis. I'm not sure how well it works for hip dysplasia but it could be worth trying.

Swimming supposed to be good but pools expensive although you may find someone locally who is cheap. My dog has glucosamine from Health span (with my husband) and they have worked for him but not the husband - he is almost 15 and still runs. He's a mongrel though. We did have a GS cross Rhodesion Ridgeback who was 11 and had been in local RSPCA for a year and I got him running again - he was dreadfully arthritic when we got him and he was prescribed something from the vet which we collected from RSPCA but I don't think it was any better than the glucosamine. Friends of ours give their young lab cd liver oil.
He needs to be on glucosamine chondroitin - likely a dose of 1000 mg per day for a dog his size, especially if he's in pain. He also needs his exercise, running especially, somewhat limited.

Also a supplement like glyco-flex or something similar avaliable from your vets will really help - this contains glucosamine, chondroitin, magnese and green lipped mussel, which will improve the condition of his hip joints - they are pricey but well worth it. If she shows signs of discomfort or pain, get him to a vet, so they can xray and prescribe some anti-inflammatories.
Glucosamine/chondroitin tablet supplements, as several people have suggested, are a good idea, particularly since he's just starting to have problems. They help more in the long-term though. There are dog supplements you can buy from your vet, or you could ring your vet and ask for a suitable dose and see if it's cheaper at a human health store.
You're doing the right thing by keeping him active. If he's at all overweight then losing the weight is one of the things that makes the most difference. Hydrotherapy is also really good for dogs with joint problems, I've seen fantastic results with long-term programs. If you're in the UK then http://www.k9hydrotherapy.co.uk/ has a list of centres, but it is perhaps something his owners should be doing as it can be expensive.
Although he's not your dog you could maybe advise the owners to have him assessed by a vet. This would mean he can be prescribed some painkillers to take on his bad days (which is probably the best thing to do).
X-rays are a good idea to determine how bad his hip dysplasia is, but the painkillers will be decided by how painful he seems rather than an x-ray picture. X-rays would be helpful if the owners are willing to think about surgical options like hip replacements (he is a young dog after all).
There's also a new treatment that sometimes works, it's a course of injections called Cartrophen and is good for arthritis. I'm not sure how well it works for hip dysplasia but it could be worth trying.

Swimming supposed to be good but pools expensive although you may find someone locally who is cheap. My dog has glucosamine from Health span (with my husband) and they have worked for him but not the husband - he is almost 15 and still runs. He's a mongrel though. We did have a GS cross Rhodesion Ridgeback who was 11 and had been in local RSPCA for a year and I got him running again - he was dreadfully arthritic when we got him and he was prescribed something from the vet which we collected from RSPCA but I don't think it was any better than the glucosamine. Friends of ours give their young lab cd liver oil.

If you like the class and need the credits (especially for a prereq next semester) then stick with the class and do what you can to get that 87%.
If I were you I would talk to the professor directly and ask them if there is anything you can do (extra paper or project) that could bring up your current grade (so you wouldn't have to worry about getting such a high grade on the final).
Some teachers are really great if you go talk to them, and WILL work with you. (I was in your boat once where I basically couldn't pass the class with even 100 on the final and the professor guaranteed I'd pass if I got certain grades on the last two grades of the semester. Microdermabrasion is a good way to clear away blackheads and gently allow your skin to breathe more easily. Make sure you use products that are nonhypoallergenic (if you use foundation, etc).

I'm not sure I understand the whole situation. Your temperature guage is supposed to go up after a few minutes. Your engine temperature should normally be around 180 to 200 degrees. It takes a while, especially in cold weather, for the engine to get that warm. If the needle is bouncing all over the place, I would bet on a loose connection somewhere, or some air in the coolant system.
sounds like trapped air or even a loose connection and would advise it is checked by a garage, If not checked it could cause more damage.
Before you re-replace the sensor, bleed the cooling system. Sounds like there could be air in the system. If an air bubble passes by the sensor it can change the reading, being that the sensor has a different sensitivity to fluid vs. air.

Bring TONS of toys.
I sat in back with baby so that I could give him bottles and play with him and show him books and blah blah blah
A portable DVD player with some baby Einstein or a musical DVD
Just be prepared to sit in back and keep up the distraction.
I also recommend some brand new colorful toys that baby has never seen before...so that he'll be blown away with cool new stuff and I recommend a giant cup of espresso for you.

I don't like the DVD players for car rides just cause they should be a learning experience! I know not at his age, but I remember looking out the window and asking so many questions, about the trees, what's in the fields, the cities we were in, etc etc. My cousins that I went on a trip with recently glued their faces to video games, and missed out on all the educational things they could have learned about.
One of you could sit in the back seat next to him for all or part of the ride. Of course... he will need to stay in his seat but you could play with him and keep him entertained.

Can any one offer any guidance on what I am to do.
I had my daughter in October 2005, her father left when she was about 6 months old. He is on the birth certificate. He left without discussing anything with me and I found out he had moved to Scotland somewhere and was not coming back. He met someone else and now has another child. He has seen my daughter once in 2 years, this particular visit was awful he would not answer his phone and it turned out he brought his new girlfriend on this visit without consulting me. He will not pay maintenance but wants to wonder into her life every 9 months or so and play daddy. Of course I have not let this happen mainly due to my daughters best interests. Recently as I have not agreed to meet with him unless he agrees to do the visits under my supervision, due to her not knowing who he is, and also that he pay maintenance, he just never turns up and this has been going on for two years. When I place conditions on him seeing her he has been threatening me via text messages. Everytime I have agreed to contact on the basis that it is consistent and he helps financially he never turns up, so I have just told him to leave us alone. Can anyone advise on what rights he has or any advise on how I should deal with him. It's driving me mad and causing stress. Advise on my rights and guidance about an absent father to my daughter

I though it was best for my daughter that she knew her dad so i agreed, she's now 15 months and he rarely visits, if he does he's hours late with no good excuse. So i think you have ever right to give him conditions, absent fathers shouldn't have any rights at all unless given them by the person he cares for his child day in day out. Why should they?? Don't look after your car properly, it breaks down, dont take care of a pet it gets taken away so why should a father be allowed to walk away from his own flesh and blood and be able to walk back in when ever it suited him. Take it to court and ask that they set out an agreement, he will have set times and set days and because your child doesn't know him you can ask that they be supervised either by you or by someone from social services.Advise on my rights and guidance about an absent father to my daughter
I would bring this to family court. Depending on where you are living he might be able to give up his rights. I know is some states in the US if there is not contact after a certain amount of time it is considered abandonment and his rights are revoked. I think you should keep to your guns on this one

Your relationship is over. You can't say he isn't entitled one. Your daughter is also HIS daughter, and seeing his girlfriend is no concern of yours.

My twin boys are going on 3 months old and they both woke up screaming and crying. So i fed them burped them,Changed them,Gave them a warm bath, but nothing seems to help. SO i went to the couch with them and put on some cartoons and cuddled with them but nothing is helping. I dont understand this they have never done this before. When my little boy wouldn't stop crying the following things could work:
1. GENTLE massage, especially of stomach (in an anticlockwise mmotion)
2. Walking him around in the pram - the motion is soothing and would often send him to sleep (as long as the walk isn't too noisy!).
3. Driving around in his car seat - same effect as the pram.
If all else fails, and you feel you can't cope, leave them somewhere safe (e.g. cot) and call someone trusted (mum, aunt, another parent etc). It seems silly, but speaking to someone and telling them how you feel can make you feel so much better and more able to cope.
Welcome to motherhood! The problem could be teething. Or one of them may have an ear infection, and the other is upset too. For teething, there are products that contain a mild local anesthetic your can rub on infants gums to give them some relief. Check their temperatures. They might be coming down with a virus. If one is running a fever, see your doctor.
Don't fret over their crying. There will be a lot more before they are grown! Babies are pretty resilient.
this is not a smart *** remark, but when i was a baby my mom used to give me a dribble of whiskey to calm me down. it stops the crying. then i would just continue to cuddle with the two boys until they mellow out. i do not believe it will harm your children.. JUST A DRIBBLE for each boy!!!

It depends on the type of cancer. For example medullary thyroid cancer is aggressive and can be genetic (part of a class of disorders called MEN 1 %26amp; 2a). If your relatives had medullary, this is hard to cure, is a surgical disease, and does not respond to radioactive iodine.
Other types of thyroid cancer are less associated with genetics, such as papillary thyroid (the most common), follicular (less common but more aggressive than papillary) and anaplastic (least common and most deadly).
The key for you is to find out if your family members were ever close to radiation or had a relative working with radioactive material, as this can also cause an increase in thyroid (and other) cancers. Find out if your relatives were treated with radioactive iodine after removal of the cancer.
If you think it is medullary thyroid cancer, you should see a geneticist for testing to see if you have the gene. If you do have it, you will need your thyroid gland removed entirely.
If your relatives were treated with radioactive iodine, they did not have medullary cancer, and the good news is that the prognosis for this type of cancer is very good. Were it me, I would start getting a thyroid ultrasound every year starting around the age that my closest relative was diagnosed (you mom). You can ask your doctor to send you to an endocrinologist for this.

You seem to definately have a family history. Key thing to take note is how old your relatives were when they were diagnosed.
The current common thinking regarding the causes of cancer is that it is a combination of genetic and enviromental factors. That being said the key for you at 16 is too reduce your envirometnal risk factors such as diet, exercise, over all health. So if you don't smoke don't start because depriving your cells of oxygen (which smoking does) can raise your risks significantly. Same with alcohol because this can lead to other factors which can lead to cancer. Not to mention any other kind of drug use. For right now if you are concerned and to put your mind at ease you can schedule an appointment with your mother Oncologist (or any oncologist) and explain your concerns. They can offer tips to reduce your additional risk factors and recommend based off those diagnosis dates I mentioned earlier when you should start active screening and what symptoms to be aware of. As with any cancer the earlier the detection the better your chances for a successful treatment.

so morning feed might be breast, then next one you might try formula, then next feed breast again. it seems your baby is just used to one method (which is better then formula) - but there must be a reason you want to stop breastfeeding.

I have set some major bounderies with my mom and have pretty much had to distance her from my kids and me. She believes that I am raising my kids wrong, I am a sinner and going to hell, that Satan has influence in our lives etc. She doesn't preach to the kids.. but her message comes across pretty clear anyway. She hopes that my kids will choose the truth and reject the way I raise them. I have had to changed my phone number. That didn't work. So I moved. She just got off the phone with my daughter and my mom was asking all sorts of evasive questions... she wants to know exactly where our holiday cabin is. When are we coming up. Can we come down. Are we going through her town on the way to the cabin. I have talked to her about evasive questions before and making plans with my kids behind my back. I don't want to change my number and cut her off more!! Help! HOW do I get her to respect bounderies?Need some serious advise on how to handle my mom and my kids interaction?

2 cats ARE better than one. Like any animal they enjoy companionship and since you're at work, its good to have someone else around. Just make sure to have it fixed!! At 7 months old, it really makes no difference as to gender if they are both spayed or neutered, but I would advise getting an older kitten, 4 to 5 months at least, as your kitten may be too strong and rambunctious to leave with a newly weaned one. As they age, the gender seems more important though.
I personally find male cats become the dominate cat are more protective of spayed females, and spayed females become much more attached to their people and male mates (less aloof). I have a 3 yo male and a 6 yo female. The male is more nocturnal and the female is more aggressive in trying to get him and us to play. When I have had two females they always seemed more competitive.
That said, I always recommend orange tabbies, they seem to have the coolest personalities and for male cats, they seem to enjoy humans the most. Good luck.

2 cats ARE better than one. Like any animal they enjoy companionship and since you're at work, its good to have someone else around. Just make sure to have it fixed!! Many rescues and humane societies will include chipping, neuter and shots with your adoption fee.Ive got one cat, want to get another kitten please advise.?

ME,my sister,other sis,bro,and a couple of friends are wanting to do a movie we are all in out teenage years...like 14,15,16,and so on.And well we dont know what to film we dont want to make a movie up we want to like copy it but in our own way.We did High School Musical and now want to do something else....what though?
We like movies like on disneychanel and other things like that tell me of some ideas and ill download the movie and see if i like it.And we especially LOvE to sing.So a musical would be great here are some movies on my list for now:

I would definitely go to the doctors just to make sure, there can be many reasons why your periods are late, stress, diet etc.. but i know lots of people who have taken pregnancy tests and they have come back negative even though they were pregnant, its to do with your hormones and weather they are strong enough for the test to detect or not. Since they're cute names, they would sound okay in the middle name spot, but I would pick Josslyn or Alyssa as the first name since they're equally nice yet not as popular.
